Seeing in Monochrome

It's funny how I am influenced by my husband without even being aware of it.  A couple weeks ago he painted a giant mural for a client who runs the Traditional Martial Arts Institute in Pantego, Texas.  As the mural progressed, he'd send me images to look at.  It is a monochromatic mural, filled with meaningful symbolism for his client.  I finally got to see it in person yesterday.  I think it is one of his best.

It was during the time he was working on this mural that I decided to rework some photos I'd taken in Puerto Rico this past Summer and have them framed for our home.  I originally processed them in color, but this is what I ended up with.  At the time, neither of us saw the connection.

Music Man

Right now, I'm in the middle of creating a series of photos of objects I've been collecting for years while out walking.  It's kind of strange how they they turned out monochromatic, too.

I didn't see this correlation until about an hour ago, when I uploaded the images of that mural.  What about you?  Are you influenced by the people around you?  How so?

Vintage Car Viewfinder Love

Hello!  I'm baaaaacckkk!  It was a very relaxing no-tech break.  While I was gone, I went to California (didja get the hint?), school started up again and I'm just about finished with the book I'm designing with my husband and his friend.  More about all of that later.

But, first I wanted to ask you a question:  What do you get when you cross a vintage Argus 75 with a classic car show?   Tadaaaaa:

Fin
Headlight
Whitewall
These are available for purchase in my Etsy shop.  Stay tuned for vacation photos......

Please Pick the Flowers

Well, it's hot here.  Today my car read 106 before 2pm!  Needless to say, there aren't many flowers in these parts - as they need a less hostile environment to thrive.  My rose bushes bloom, but by the time the evening rolls around, they're - literally - toast!

Needless to say, I was delighted to find these alternatives to the real thing while nosing around Etsy today.  I love each and every one of these beauties.

We Need Some Stinkin Badges!

Been spending all day working on this little ditty.  First, I was just curious as to how many of these badges I'd photographed over the past couple of years.  Then I just wanted to see them all with the same treatment.  THEN I just wanted to see what they all looked like together.  And THEN.....

Well, this is what happened.  Obsessive?  Maybe just a little.  But I kinda like it. ;)

I'm having this printed at the lab at 30" x 20".  If it turns out looking fab, I'm putting this bad boy in my shop!

Stay tuned....

Getting Lighter

It's Spring time. Time to go through your closets and get rid of the things you no longer have a use for. Time to give up habits that no longer serve you. Time to shed old opinions and see things in a new way. Time to lighten up!!!

Isn't he a little cutie? This is what I did to my husband today. He was sweet enough to pose so I could finally do the before and after I've always wanted to.

I've used a film made for my Polaroid SX-70 by The Impossible Project called TZ-Artistic Paul Giambarba Edition. I love the muted tones in this film. Here's another from that film pack.

If you want to see more photos taken with this film, go here. Also, I am shooting this pack of film with a beautiful Polaroid SX-70 camera that I intend to sell in my new photography shop, as part of the grand opening in May. I have three of these lovelies and I need to lighten up. So stay tuned.....

Some Viewfinder Lovin'

A few new photos in my shop. The TtV of my vintage Misty was taken during Christmas holiday. I have a couple more of Misty and Stormy in the snow that I'm still working on. I'm having the "Custom" TtV printed large and hanging it in my kitchen. And I just love the Fairlane emblem, don't you? If you want to see more of my vintage car photos, go here.

Dashing Through the Snow

I've had this photo in my head ever since I bought this cute little '53 Ford Crestline last Summer. Luckily, I had lots of time to play in the snow over Christmas.

Available in my Etsy shop.

High Speed Chase

You better not run in Indiana. They will chase you down. And in a 1965 Ford Galaxie, they'll catch you! You definately don't want THAT to happen.
Can you guess who the man is driving the speeding red 65 Galaxie?
These will be available in my Etsy shop soon. I just can't stop playing with these cars long enough to list the photos. ;)

Alabama Speed Trap

I just about fell over this weekend when my husband suggested we stop by the toy store to see what kind of cars they had and I FOUND the 1971 Alabama State Police Javeline!!! I couldn't wait to get outside and play with it!! One of these will be available in my Etsy shop, as soon as I figure out which one is "shop-worthy". Any suggestions????
I have a couple more new photos on my Flickr.

Here Come de Fuzz!

This is a 1971 AMC Javelin AMX diecast. LOVE the paint and the Corvette-like fender humps on this car. I'm still looking for a State Trooper diecast - from the sixties or seventies would be ideal. But I am getting closer. As fate would have it, the AMC Javelin was the first pony car ever to be used by any U.S. police force. The Alabama State Troopers per the pioneers on that front. They chased criminals in this beauty from 1971 to 1979. Take a look at the diecast of that sweet cop car:

(Dear Santa......)

The photo of the purple Javelin is available in my Etsy shop. Find out more about the AMC Javelin here. To see a picture of a REAL Alabama State Trooper posing next to his ride, click here. Isn't that little hat cute?
