Vintage Muscle Car Tshirts for Spring!

Here they are! We finally were able to shoot our new Muscle Car tshirts today. I love these! They're soft and lightweight so they'll be a staple for me all summer (it gets HOT here in Texas). These are all available at http://www.tightropetees.etsy.com/. We are also taking wholesale orders from some boutiques around town (woo hoo!).

Tightrope Tees on Etsy

Well, we finally got our second Etsy shop opened. TAAADAAAAA!!! Tightrope Tees is born! We only have one design, but more are on the way.

Check out our super-cool logo that we print on the back of all of our shirts. We love our little polar bear.

Just for Fun

These are just a few of the fun little things I've cooked up lately (hee hee). I've been playing around with shrink plastic! Its so FUN to watch it shrink down in the oven. I know, I'm a little too old for that kind of "thrill", but really am easily amused. These are available in my Etsy shop. And because it so fun to do, look for more soon!

Etsy Vintage LOVE

Lately, I've become more than a little obsessed with one of the coolest Flickr groups in existance. Wardrobe Remix has inspired me to get back into thrift stores, scour Ebay, brake at garage and estate sale signs and have some FUN with my clothes again. This mommy is stuck in the jeans, t-shirt, flip flop waltz! Well, not for long.
This obsession inspired an Etsy treasury that I made today. I can't believe how many exceptional vintage shops there are on Etsy. Below is a list of the shops I highlighted in my treasury. Click on them and have some fun!

Cool Clothes, Man!

I have such fond memories of sitting at the catalogue counter in the fabric store, pouring over pages and pages of the BIG GIANT catalogs while my mother picked out the fabric for the next set of matching outfits she would make for me and my sister. Heaven. Pure Heaven. Now, thanks to Ebay, I own three of those huge books from the late 60's and early 70's and I LOVE them. I'm not sure if I'm skilled (or patient) enough to actually make an outfit, I just love the artwork!

Hunka Hunka

I'm NOT obsessed with the movie "Vanishing Point" or anything, I just really like the visuals: the landscape and this super freaky car plowing its way through it. Its just hitting a 'man-inside-machine-inside-nature' chord in me right now. And its bringing to mind a part in Kent Nerburn's book "Neither Wolf Nor Dog" where he describes riding in a big old car across a reservation; plowing across a giant field (no road or trail) that goes on into the horizon and the freedom he felt and the vastness of the land. Great book. I highly recommend it.

Anyway, I'm going back through the movie to get a closer look at some details and imagine my shock when I see this man:

with the cool sideburns, the thick collar, the vest and the awesome watch, wearing THESE shoes:

See these shoes? Little tiny Keds! Little tiny white canvas "tennies"!

Boy have the times changed!

Not So Secret Addiction

Okay, I can't hold it in any longer..... I am addicted to fashion. I LOVE clothes. Real people clothes, street clothes, vintage clothes. Some of my fondest memories are of my friends and I spending all day trying on vintage clothes at a WONDERFUL shop in Forreston, Texas called Bon Ton. They have a website, but it simply doesn't do them justice. You have to GO there to see what I mean. It is better than any chocolate shop, any bookstore, any jazz club....well, Barbara used to be a jazz singer so there you go. People come from everywhere because she has the best stash around. Movie people, theater people... I haven't been there in ages, but will return soon to rummage through all her treasures. Back then I used to forrage the men's section for gaberdine shirts from the forties to wear with my jeans or go directly to the women's to find curvey dresses from the fifties to wear to work. Sometimes I'd even find a pointy pair of pumps big enough for my feet (not too many size 8 girlies back then). Oh..... heaven......

I also love to spend time watching people and seeing what they wear. Northpark Center, in Dallas, is a really good place for this. I've spent hours (after visiting Antropologie, of course) watching people there.

On that note, I've just discovered a BRILLIANT blog, The Sartorialist, that does this for me in three cities: New York, Milan and Paris. All images in this post can be found on that blog. I am smitten...
